Locul Meu — Privacy Policy

Locul Meu (“the app”) shows your GPS position, speed, altitude, direction and air pressure, and draws your position on a map. This policy explains what happens with your data. In short: the app does not collect, store or share any personal data on a server. Everything stays on your device, except for the map and weather image requests described below.

Location

The app asks for permission to use your location only while the app is in use. It never tracks you in the background.
Your coordinates, speed, altitude, direction and accuracy are calculated by iOS on your device and shown on screen. They are never sent to the developer or to anyone else, and they are not saved.
If you tap to copy your coordinates, they are placed on your device’s clipboard; what happens next is up to you.

Motion and air pressure

With your permission, the app reads the device’s barometer to show air pressure and barometric altitude. These readings stay on your device and are not saved.

Map and weather images (the only data that leaves your device)

To draw the map and the optional weather layers, the app downloads images (“tiles”) over the internet from these providers:

Each tile request contains the tile’s position and zoom level, so the provider can see roughly which area of the map is being viewed, together with your device’s IP address and the app’s name, as with any internet request. The request does not include your exact GPS position, your name, or any account or device identifier. These providers handle this information under their own privacy policies:

Data stored on your device

Map tiles you have viewed are saved on your device (up to the limit you choose in Settings, 250 MB by default) so the map works without a connection. You can delete them in Settings at any time. They contain only map images. Areas you choose to save for offline use are kept until you delete them. Weather images are kept for only a few minutes. Deleting the app removes them.
Settings (units, map style and, if you enter one, your own Thunderforest or OpenWeather API key) are saved on your device only.

What the app does not do

No user accounts, no sign-in.
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
No sale or sharing of data with anyone.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new “Last updated” date.
